YouGov Poll - 33 Point lead!

So much for the Rishi bounce. A week ago the Tories thought they were on the comeback trail.

Now the electorate can see that Sunack's just got the old band of crooks back together. Another day - another scandal.

Most tory MP's have already changed their twitter bios to remove any association with Conservative Party. A shame! Quite literally they are ashamed, of who they are, and what the nation think of their collective.

I've diaried May 5 as a popcorn day. Sit back and watch the blue on blue as they respond to a wipe out in the local elections. Marvelous.

I'm not going to start a thread on it but do I take it that the Faustians on here are happy with Labour's Tweet this morning?

At present labour don’t have to do or say anything, simply being the only alternative to the current **** show is enough for the polls to be as they are in effectively a two party state.

Once they do start speaking about policy, which they will have to meaningfully eventually, I’d expect the gap to shorten rather than stay where it is based on what I am seeing coming out of the party as a whole, this mornings ad campaign article especially makes me despair.

The Sunak one?

I was angry for a few minutes and then realised that was the whole point. It isn't there to make people question Sunak (or the Tory law and order record). It's solely aimed at the sort of people that will now give up any hope of Labour finding it's soul before the election. They actively want the left to walk away so that no one asks any hard questions.

Awful for the sake of awful.

Can't say I am, in fact I'm very much unimpressed with it and it's a bit of an own goal. Don't get me wrong, it's simply playing the Tories at their own game and taking advantage of social media the way Tories have for years. But I'm not happy with it, I'd hoped to have been better than them.

I think it was a warning to the Tories and their media cohorts that if they want a dirty fight then they will get one.

We‘ve seen a lot of stuff about grooming gangs, Jimmy Saville and the definition of a woman thrown around at Starmer in recent weeks. What do you do, just lie down and let them win the dirty war?

It’s just politics. There’s going to be a very dirty fight when they really get going. Wether we want it or not. Problem is Starmer doesn’t seem to have a lot of street fighters around him.

You could always fight back with the truth.

Going lower when your opponent goes low just leaves everyone crawling in the dirt.
Yeah but the problem is it works doesn't it? Look at what they did to Corbyn and Sturgeon. There's no dirty trick them and they media hoardes won't stoop too.

It's tough isn't it? Everyone else SHOULD rise above it, but they bring guns to fist fights. Not sure how far you'll get punching someone sticking a glock in your ribs

Labour just need to re-quote the horrendous things that have been spewed by torys in the past few years in order to highlight what scum they are.

From Johnson's peedo smear of Starmer, to MPs saying people who are going hungry just need to get better paid jobs, work more hours, give up Netflix and learn to cut, to the mountain of Brexit lies that people now realise has made them poorer and will make them poorer still.

It doesn't work though does it, the media and Tories write the crap as the people are daft enough to lap it up. There are not enough people of sound mind, to counteract the crap in a 100% genuine way. There's not enough media who want to do the right thing, they only want to do what's right for their pockets.

We're fighting in a cess pit, and are gonna have to get covered in **** to some degree. Only after this, and when victorious, can we get ourselves out and fully cleaned up, and then try and firmly close the cess pit lid.

It’s disgusting. Dragging Labour down to the level of the likes of Lee Anderson and Johnathan Gulis. Totally unnecessary and completely shameful.
Gutter politics isn’t the way to win! Completely self defeating.
I bet there are more Labour voters to be lost from this kind of nonsense, than there are to gain.

Torys can't call it out though can they? If they try they will be buried when people are reminded of what they have said, so maybe there is more to this than meets the eye.

They don’t need to though do they, that’s the point. It besmirches any talk of grown up politics / doing things differently in the future, massively self defeating

That’s how I see it. The Tories have played the rhetoric that Labour protect pesos and are soft on crime. They’re giving the Tories a remastered of their own medicine.

I’m not sure it’s a tactic they should make a staple of their approach, but I get what they were doing. It’s probably meant to disenfranchise a set of people who have been manipulated into believing that Starmer had anything to do with Saville when he didn’t. Confuse them that the Tories are letting pedos go and they just won’t vote
