The Last of Us TV Show

Thought it was yet another excellent episode.

The opening scene was superb, some very emotional scenes throughout and it was such a tough choice but I think it was inevitable how Joel would react given his character.

I do think the build up to the final act should have been drawn out a bit longer, and it's not been perfect, but I'd say that was the best adaption of a game that I've ever watched and a really enjoyable show in general.

I think you’re right about the adaptation, I can’t think of another decent one.

Just watched the final episode there and it was brilliant.

I finished the second game a few weeks ago and can't wait for season 2. That'll be absolutely class and I've got no doubts they'll adapt it really well.

Most of my thoughts on the series as a whole have already been described, it was a great adaption however I really think it could've done with at least another two episodes.

I thought the last episode was overly rushed. Maybe it's just because I knew what was coming, be interesting to hear from those who've not played the games if they think it was rushed as well?

I thought some episodes were slow (let’s not go there again) and some were quite fast paced.

I certainly felt like the final episode got to the crescendo a bit too quickly, could have done with bit more build up imho.

Overall, I’ve enjoyed it. I don’t really feel compelled to play the games as I don’t want to know what happens in the next series. Nor do I have a device capable of playing them on.

Great episode

Only thing missing from the game was the tunnel with all the infected. That could never be replicated in the TV show as they have already said that the infected are linked and you kill one and you bring the rest so the tunnel part is left out.

Perfect for me and you couldn`t have 10-15 mins of killing to get to Ellie.

I`ll look forward to the 2nd series now

Played both games and found the show to be absolutely immense. Don't think they changed too much other than stuff that didn't translate to screen too well, and the stuff they changed was for the better to me 👌🏻

Great episode. It could have been longer, almost wish they'd made 2 seasons per game but it is what it is.

I think it was brilliant, they managed to translate the story essence of the game into TV. Something that is very hard to do accomplish.

Can't wait to binge watch it all from the beginning.

I haven't played the game and I've really enjoyed the series. I wouldn't say it's ever felt rushed, the opposite at times even. Looking back on it now I'm guessing that each episode has been a different level of sorts within the game and they've clearly made the choice to keep those at 1 episode each and just had varying episode lengths to accommodate them.

I don't think anything that happened in the last episode was that surprising. Almost every post apocalypse journey to find a solution story has had something similar. Not sure how that differed from the game but it was still well done if not unsurprising.

Would've been nice to see more infected. I presume there are far more encounters within the game but I know it wouldn't have really enhanced the story, just added some more action.

Looking forward to see where they go next. It's not really been left on a cliffhanger or anything so I couldn't even begin to guess where they will head with it.

Just watched the final episode and thought it was excellent. I enjoyed it. As I’ve mentioned earlier in this thread I’ve been playing the game over the last couple of months, but I’m a bit behind now (I’ve just killed the deer), but looking forward to see how this episode plays out in the game.

I think the lack of infected is also realistic. Over a 20 year period and they way it’s done in the the series’s you know how to avoid them in the main. If there’s vines on the floor you have to be careful, and they’ll likely know where these areas are. For me a great adjustment from the game

I'm glad they got the giraffe scene in!

Whilst I think a sequel would have been in their minds, the first game was meant to be a complete story, development began in 2009 and it came out in 2013. Last of us part 2 came out in 2020, and it will definitely flip the table. If you think the episode with bill and Frank divided people and caused review bombing, batten down the hatches 😂

Second game also ends as a very defined story. He says there could be more story to tell but if it's not already underway, it will be years. They could tell that story via the show I guess.

There's a good article here that talks about how the show came into being, casting decisions and all that jazz, decent read and spoiler free. Some good comments from Bella Ramsey about what she faced during the announcements of casting.

For me the infected were largely a gameplay device - in the show you know they're there and you don't want to spend 30 minutes a week watching Joel sneak around them or try running at them gung ho because he hasn't got unlimited lives like the game so it would make him feel superhuman. Even fighting humans has that effect, like in the hospital, so they do have to be careful with it.

In the earlier episode we saw them pour out of the ground, couldn't have that every episode and have Joel just taking them on.

On the giraffe, my partner complained that they'd used an unrealistic CGI one when they could have used a real one...

It actually was a real giraffe, it was just surrounded by CGI scenery.

Thought that was funny, giraffes obviously just look a bit daft in general.

Too much casual giraffe-ism in society today.
