Neil Warnock was delighted today to sign Paddy McNair on a long term deal until the end of 2023/24. Having played nearly 100 appearances now for Boro the midfielder converted to a centre half has been Boro's best player in the Warnock revival. McNair's deal is a great 72nd birthday present from Neil Warnock to the Boro.

The Northern Ireland international actually had 18 months remaining on his current deal but Warnock is keen to look to the long term as well as short term at Boro and McNair should be a key part of that.

McNair follows on quickly from Jonny Howson, Anfernee Dijksteel, and Sam Folarin, who have all recently agreed to new extensions.

Neil Warnock was pleased to unveil his new re-signing.

“It’s another step in the right direction for the club,” said the gaffer.

“We want to almost build a team around Paddy. He has excelled this season, and he’s loving every minute of it. It took him two seconds to agree to a new contract which I thought was fantastic.

“I’m absolutely delighted and this is another important step for the club for the future.”
