While some are fully drinking the conspiracy coolaid, a lot are so detached from politics (as we are over here too) that they believe the guff he is allowed to spout. Every day he comes out of the court and tells people that he's being persecuted and that it's going well. The reality, if you actually take time to follow proceedings is very different. Had this trial been televised it would have had a far greater impact on those who won't go out of their way to inform themselves.
