Baby Reindeer - Netflix

Finished it last night just couldn’t stop it was very good, made me uncomfortable at times it’s compelling

I feel I’m in the minority here but I thought it wasn’t great.

Watched it after hearing all the hype and found it a bit boring.

Sad story, but not my cup of tea for ‘entertainment’

I've not watched it despite the hype. I've read about it and I'm absolutely certain it's not really my thing.

If I have time at the end of a day I want a bit of escapism usually. Not watch a story about stalkers, rape and abuse.

I've no doubt it's very well made. But not for me.

If I want to watch sad depressing stuff I'll switch on the news. Or Eastenders.

I kind of enjoyed it, but I couldn't help being left with the feeling that Gadd has cashed in on his 'experiences' and a large post of that is based on characterising Martha in a very particular way, who I would say almost certainly has some acute mental health issues.

It all seemed a bit too exploitative for me to be comfortable with.

I watched the PM interview last night. I wasn’t really clear what her defence poisitikm actually was - she seems to flip flop between saying she was alien to the story and that character wasn’t based on her, but also that it was but the ‘facts’ presented were just not true. She constantly jumbled both positions. Some of the stuff she claimed as lies would be traceable in minutes e.g. criminal conviction and jail time, both of which she said she’d never experienced.

For me she came across as deluded. You would have to think that Netflix has done their due diligence and the 41,000 emails etc were looked at and were established to be from her. If that is the case her story falls apart.

I thought Morgan did a pretty good interview. He didn’t go for her like I thought he would. At the end I was expecting him to whip out the emails and prove her wrong but he let her get her side of the story across whilst allowing her to make a few statements about the emails etc.

Good viewing for fans of the Netflix show. It will be interesting to see if Netflix or the writer come out with anything over the next few days to prove their story is genuine.
She was obviously deluded, that's what stalkers are.

The real "Martha" was reportedly paid £250 for that Morgan interview, the amount of money he would of got, surely that's unethical and exploitative.

Just caught up with it.
Both individuals clearly have problems.
Here's the interview referenced above, if anyone's interested.
I think the more she talks the bigger the hole she digs.
