Want to be depressed and disgusted by a Middlesbrough "fan"?

Probably mostly born and bred Teessiders who've moved away for work though? Not quite the same thing in my opinion. Besides which, I've certainly not seen anyone on here encouraging people to violently attack Houchen!

Want to be depressed and disgusted by a Middlesbrough "fan"?

What a mental tweet, especially if its right that its a young guy, presumably up in Teesside. What do they care who's London mayor or for ULEZ or whatever?

    C'Mon you Tories!

I don't know how many candidates they've stood overall but I'd have guessed higher than that. We've had about 1,200 results so far 37 councils still to declare. You'd think they'd have a candidate most places.

    C'Mon you Tories!

Is it still the case that he lives at whatever property friends let him use free of charge? He probably doesn't actually own an ID that matches the address he resides at. It'll be way more than half of the tories that stood. They're losing about half the ones they already held. Unless there's...

    "No overall control"

I'm being a little facetious but come on... what they announced is they're having secret meetings with business leaders to "finesse" the policies. You don't need to be Mystic Meg to figure out what comes next. I disagree with that tweet that there's some sort of inevitability to...

    "No overall control"

I mean its not "no evidence" is it? You can hardly blame people for thinking Labour won't change much when Starmers marketed the party as not changing much for 4 years. 🤷‍♂️ Just this week they announced they actually won't change much on workers rights. And thats the week of elections and was...

    "No overall control"

I haven't looked at any results myself yet, but keep in mind not all the seats on a particular council are contested at the same time. So there may well be places where the tories have lost all the seats they can but its still not enough for another party to have an overall majority.

Labour promises rail nationalisation within five years of coming into power

Does this make any significant difference to anything anyone has said on the thread? Or are you just asking everyone to sub the word contractor in for franchise?

Labour promises rail nationalisation within five years of coming into power

Think that hits on a vital point to remember in any public/private ownership debate. We know the tories modus operandi. We know they run state organisations into the ground so that they can make their case for privatisation and sell as cheaply as possible to their mates. Exactly as they've done...

Labour promises rail nationalisation within five years of coming into power

If they actually carry out this policy, then having to wait for the franchises to end wouldn't worry me in the slightest. We've put up with Thatcherism this long, and for most of the time with absolutely no end in sight. And even if it takes 5 years to complete, there are two franchises with...

Labour promises rail nationalisation within five years of coming into power

Just to be clear, Labours policy as per the article in the OP is specifically not to take over the rolling stock. Just to nationalise running the services. This is another thing that makes me doubt it as its almost like building in a back door for the tories to exploit whenever they're next back...

Labour promises rail nationalisation within five years of coming into power

I'm sorry but you've either misremembered or been misinformed there. The rail nationalisation policy in the 2019 manifesto was similar to whats been announced here - bringing services under public control as rail operator franchises expire. Of course there'd be no compensation - there'd be...

Labour promises rail nationalisation within five years of coming into power

Tbh thats partly what makes me doubt it. I'd prefer Starmer to do a media round where he's personally committing to a policy like this. Rather than it just be a shadow minister you can easily see him shuffling out post election anyway. Absolutely. I genuinely hope they stick to it and that I...

Labour promises rail nationalisation within five years of coming into power

Sounds good on the face of it! Will say I have my doubts... Reeves has said explicitly before that they won't nationalise rail travel, and Starmer has form for dropping pledges and for being duplicitous with his wording on common ownership vs public ownership vs nationalised. And even that...

    Gaza genocide

Millbrook can you provide some sort of comment there? What are you saying? How is that tweet/video a response to @MoggasDog's comment that you've quoted?
